Star Wars Blu-ray announcement coming Thursday
Fans were gifted back in August with news that George Lucas would once again be re-releasing his Star Wars Saga, but this time on the Blu-ray format sometime this year (here). That didn’t tell us much, but Engadget is getting word that Lucas will be making an announcement about that release on Thursday at Panasonic’s CES booth. The Sith Lord Darth Vader will be making the announcement with some Stormtroopers. No word what it will be, but it’s said to be “most impressive”. Although, we can probably expect it to be the release date and the specifications.
The box set is said to include all six films, but the “Special Editions” of the original trilogy.

We now break live to George Lucas at his house…
Lucas: Now there is blue ray..now I can make my self richer..bwhahahahahahahaha!!!!!

The greed is strong in you Mr. Lucas. A powerful Sith you will become.

As funny as your comment sort of is, I think if that’s truly the case, he would’ve jumped and down a set already for the format.
I’m happy it’s coming and for the new special features.

He waited to seeif BD would last ’til he released the films. He did the same thing with DVD.
I was excited until I remembered it was the crappy “Special Editions”. Now I’m only interest in ESB as it’s the only of those re-releases that wasn’t ruined.

Adding Jaba in A NEW HOPE and Hayden Christiansen in RETURN was awful. And this is coming from someone that isn’t a big fan of those movies.

Adding Hayden made absolutely NO SENSE to that scene. If the young Anakin appeared to Luke, then a young Obi-wan should have as well. It just shows that Lucas doesn’t known what he’s doing.
