Sigourney Weaver still wants to kick Alien ass
For years, there’s been murmurs of a fifth Alien movie, even with Ridley Scott’s name attached to it. But I think with the two lackluster AvP films, continuing the franchise meant one thing for 20th Century Fox: reboot.
If a fifth Alien film was more concrete than us fans knew about, it probably led into Prometheus, which is a prequel of sorts to Scott’s 1979 masterpiece. We will find out more next summer, but that hasn’t stopped Sigourney Weaver to constantly keep bringing up a return of her Ripley character.
“I could definitely kick that alien’s ass again. [Ripley]‘s a smart hero, it’s the way she thinks, but just looking at the way the business is…While I can’t speak for them, I think for Fox, once you’re sixty, you’re not going to be starring in an action movie. I think it’s too bad that that’s the case. I would have liked to do one last story where we go back to the planet, where Ripley’s history is resolved. But I do feel like her story is unfinished.”
Is Ripley’s story unfinished? I mean, she did die in Alien 3 only to be cloned for Alien Resurrection. What’s left to say? Would Fox continue the franchise outside of Prometheus?
