Scanners remake now going to a TV series

Dimension Films has announced via Deadline that they’re scraping the proposed Scanners remake that’s long been in-development for a TV series based on the premise. For whatever reason, the Weinsteins have been unable to craft a successful screenplay on the David Cronenberg 1981 film, with David Goyer and Darren Bousman once attached. With a resurgence in genre TV, this could explain why they’re head to TV.

Also, the source claims that Alex Aja (High Tension, Piranha 3D) will executive produce the show and maybe direct. No start date has been announced.
