Rumor: Bolo Yeung in The Expendables 2
Things are starting to get cleared up for The Expendables 2. First, Lionsgate Films confirmed a release date of August 17th, 2012 (here) and that Sly Stallone will be back as director (here).
It also seems pretty safe to assume that Jean-Claude Van Damme will appear (here and here) and that Bruce Willis’ Church will be the main villain (here and here). It’s also safe to say that fans won’t be seeing Steven Seagal (here).
Take this as a rumor, but the IMDb page of the film lists legend Bolo Yeung as “Killer”, a possible villain in some regard. For fans of martial art films, this is exciting news if it pans out. Bolo is famously remembered for Bloodsport as Chong Li, who faced off against Van Damme (something he would do once more with JCVD in Double Impact as Moon). Bolo’s career spans 30 years, and began his claim to action villainy in Bruce Lee’s immortal Enter the Dragon.
Interesting to note on the IMDb page is that some of the main stars, like Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, and even Dolph Lundgren are “rumored”, yet Randy Couture and Bolo aren’t. Obviously, we’re just speculating, but a rematch between JCVD and Bolo Yeung could be worth the money in itself.
