Rise of the Apes gets a title change
Despite rolling off of the tongue nicely, did Rise of the Apes have franchise recognition? Apparently, Fox didn’t think so as the film is getting a new title (and if you’re keeping track at home, it’s the third title change) to the more franchise friendly: Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
The film, due this August now, will be getting a trailer soon and is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
No word on if this film will kick start a new franchise, be connected to the old series made famous in 1968, or be a prequel to Tim Burton’s misfire.

I think its already been said to be a prequel to the oringal Heston film, but honestly, it has the exact same premise as Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. And that’s turned me off almost completely along with CG apes.
Misfire?
Dear Jon, you are being too kind.
