Pirates 5 already has a script
Disney must be very confident in Rob Marshall’s Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides as we’ve already heard that two more sequels are planned (here), and that Pirates 5 already has a screenwriter (here). In the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, Screenwriter Terry Rossio revealed the script has been complete and turned into the studio. However, Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow) doesn’t want to set sail on a fifth installment just yet, and thinks the studio “should hold off for a bit” before making another film.
“It boils down to story, script and filmmaker. It’s not something where I would say, ‘Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012. We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me,” Depp said. The actor has already announced his interest in portraying Captain Jack Sparrow once again (here), but it maybe it would be best to wait a while to make yet another sequel. On Stranger Tides is very likely to be a hit despite how many felt about At World’s End, but maybe a breather is best for this franchise. Depp is already busy with a number of fiilms such as Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows (here) and The Lone Ranger (here). There’s currently no director attached to a fifth film just yet, but word is that Disney is wanting Rob Marshall to return.
Meanwhile, Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides opens on May 20th.
