No Lois Lane in Superman reboot

Ever since the casting of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman (here) in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, we’ve been hearing a few rumors about the casting of the film’s love interest (here, here, and here). We all assumed it to be Lois Lane as the most obvious choice, but Variety is now saying that Ms. Lane won’t even be in the film. The film will apparently be set even before Kent gets his job at the Daily Planet, which means that we won’t be seeing Perry White or Jimmy Olsen cast in the film either.

Meanwhile, Varitey is has also revealed three actresses who are in currently in talks for the unspecified female role. Those names are Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day, Surrogates), Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League, Sex and The City 2), Diane Krueger (Inglourious Basterds, National Treasure). We can probably assume the names we’ve heard earlier were also up for this role. Although, we can assume that Lois would appear if a sequel does get made. That would likely mean that whoever gets this role won’t return in the next film.
