No Keanu For Akira

You’ve probably heard about the long in development Akira live action film, with all sorts of names attached to the project (remember the Zac Efron rumors?). Well it seems the project has taken another blow with Keanu Reeves officially passing on the role of Kaneda.

No body has actually signed on for the film (to be directed by Albert Hughes) for Warner Bros. and this quote claiming the film is still alive and awaiting the green light “Production on Akira has not halted or been shut down, as the film has not yet been greenlit and is still very much in the development stage. The exploratory process is crucial to a project of this magnitude, and we will continue to sculpt our approach to making the best possible film.

Will the film ever go anywhere? Does anyone actually want this to happen?

  1. Thank the Lord. Reeves is way too old for that role. But IMO, this film has no chance of turning to be anything other than Dragonball Evolution 2.
