No Harrison Ford in Blade Runner sequel?

If you haven’t heard, it was reported earlier today that Ridley Scott would be returning to direct a sequel to Blade Runner (here). But it seems that could be the only reunion we see as Alcon Entertainment producer Andrew Kosove seriously doubts that Harrison Ford would return. “In no way do I speak for Ridley Scott. But if you’re asking me will this movie have anything to do with Harrison Ford, the answer is no. This is a total reinvention, and in my mind that means doing everything fresh, including casting,” he said to The LA Times. So, does that mean this film is technically a reboot, and not a sequel as originally thought?

Who knows, but the next step is for them to find a writer that can help create a worthy installment. Given the popularity of the original film, that process isn’t expected to take long. In fact, it could happen in a matter of months, or weeks. However, fans shouldn’t be too eager to see a follow-up as the development process is expected to take up to 18 months to get a cast, script, and start production. Kosove doesn’t expect the film to begin shooting until 2013, and the film wouldn’t be released until 2014. Ridley Scott has reportedly already finished work on Prometheus for its release next year, and could end up working on a different film in that period. But it’s unknown what Scott will do, and it’s just a matter of patience.
