No 3D for Kite remake
It was announced a couple of months ago that David R. Ellis, a director that made his fame with such 3D films as Shark Night 3D and The Final Destination, would be directing a live-action adaptation of Kite. With his two previous films being released in 3D and that being the standard for most Hollywood films, many probably expected his latest to be in 3D as well. But according to Anime News Network, Ellis has “certainly no reason” to make the film in 3D. “Basically I’m trying to create a world that is, in terms of a story, a lot like the Mad Max films and Road Warrior,” Ellis added.
Ellis also notes that his take on the anime/manga will not be a cliched action film. He wants to use real stunt people and parkour-stlye free-running as opposed to “super slow motion wire work stuff”.
