New Mortal Kombat film in 2012?

On Saturday, it was reported that Kevin Tancharoen (Fame) would be getting behind of camera to film 10 webisodes based on the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat (here). As many assumed, these short films aren’t just being used to build interest in the latest installment in the video-game franchise, but could be a pioneer for a new film in 2012. At least that’s what the folks over at Twitch are hearing. However, nothing is 100% certain at this point, but it’s good to know that a new film could finally be coming eventually.

These upcoming webisodes are supposedly being used to give the franchise a new look and feel that was shown in the Mortal Kombat Rebirth short (here). But once again, nothing is certain just yet, and Warner Bros. may change their minds about another film. Meanwhile, the first short film by Tancharoen will come online in April to coincide the release of the new video-game.
