Marvel, DC Comics – watch out! Here’s Griff the Invisible!
A new trailer just came online for Griff the Invisible, starring Ryan Kwanten (Red Hill, HBO’s True Blood) that follows as ocially awkward and bullied office worker (just like Clark Kent) and at night, he turns vigilante his alter-ego to protect his neighborhood in Melbourne. He juggles this double life quite well until he meets a girl named Melody (Maeve Dermody) and has his world turned upside down. Melody, a beautiful young scientist who is just as socially awkward as Griff is and shares his passion for the impossible.
Here’s hoping it’s a bit different than the other superhero films of this ilk, like Super, Kick-Ass, and The Defendor, which all have successfully flipped the script on the superhero genre.
The film has an August 19th U.S. release date, and is currently playing in Australia.

minor correction – the film is actually set in Sydney. It’s pretty great how it shows quite an unusual side of Sydney – it was mostly filmed in the inner suburb of Surry Hills, I believe.
I haven’t seen Kick Ass or any of the other movies you mentioned but I have heard that Griff is quite different from Kick Ass. It’s really not like any other movie I’ve seen before, and I mean that in a good way. It’s essentially a love story, the way I see it. And a really good one too.
