Machete Kills in April
While Machete wasn’t a financial hit, audiences seemed to love the film. That love was enough for Robert Rodriguez to move forward with a sequel titled Machete Kills. Deadline is now reporting that Rodriguez will be teaming with AR Films’ Alexander Rodnyansky to finance the sequel, and begin production this April. Donny Trejo is currently in talks to reprise his role as Machete, and whatever cast member that didn’t get killed in Machete is expected to return as well.
Rodriguez sees the character as “truly a super hero”, and this film looks to turn him directly into one. In this film, Machete is “recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.”
