Lex Luthor confirmed for Superman

Those hoping for a Luthor-less Superman film are out of luck today as it seems the character has been confirmed for the film. Unknown Actor Adam Harris was recently rumored for the role (here), and it seems that his representatives have now confirmed (via You Bent My Wookie) Harris has auditioned for the role. Many were hoping to not see Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, but I think Luthor needs to be in the film. However, not as the primary villain. As for those rumors about Lindsay Lohan, that’s still yet to be confirmed or denied.

  1. Rosenbaum showed that Lex can be done right, when not being treated like a comedy villain (even the Donner Lex was guilty of this as well as Spacey in Superman Returns). If the actor is right and the director/writers treat it serious Lex can be amazing, again I reference Smallville as the best on-screen live-action version of Lex. No stupid wigs, no comical henchmen, no real-estate scams. I’m pretty sure I can speak for most of the Superman hardcore fanbase when I say we are freaking beyond tired of real-estate Lex. I’d much rather businessman Lex like Rosenbaum’s. Lexcorp, Luthorcorp whatever. Thankfully having a bad worldwide economy gives the excuse of real-estate being a nonfactor if this film is done right. Lex could easily be the mastermind behind other villains if this becomes a trilogy or series. Let’s take a break from him being the main guy for a few movies, then if they want give him superpowes or a suit or whatever, even a kryptonite ring. In the meantime I’d just rather have him be the evil mastermind behind the supervillains. Or even a Godfather type on a much larger scale.

  2. I would like Luthor in the film, maybe like you said, maybe as a puppet master instead of the featured villain. But why can’t we just have Brainiac, Darkseid, or Doomsday?!

Yes to Brainiac, but it’s too early for Doomsday, and I’m tired of Darkseid for the moment. Like I said, I think Luthor NEEDS to be in this film, but NOT as the villain. A background character that’s comes into play in the sequel.
