Let’s remake Soapdish and The Bodyguard
In what appears to be remake day, two remakes of 90′s films have been announced. Firstly Paramount are looking to remake Soapdish, the comedy from 1991 starring the likes of Kevin Kline, Sally Field and Robert Downey Jr. To get things rolling they have hired writer Ben Schwartz to write the screenplay. One of the films original producers Allen Greisman is also on board to produce this one with Rob Reiner.

Next up is the news that Warner Bros are working on the remake for the 1992 film The Bodyguard. You remember theoriginal, starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner? About a secret service agent who has to protect a famous singer from a stalker and they fall in love. It had that song which played non stop when the film came out … but anyway it looks like Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer are going to write the script. The story is apparently getting an upgrade with the character played by Costner now going to be an Iraqi war veteran who comes back and takes the job as the protector. Apparently social networking and media sites will play an important part of the story as well, adding to the stalker angle.
