Let’s remake Carrie!
Deadline is reporting that HBO’s Big Love‘s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is being hired by Screen Gems to pen the screenplay for a remake of Carrie. Of course, this isn’t the first time Stephen King’s first novel was adapted, in case you forgot about Carrie (2002), but nothing seems to compare to what Brian De Palma did with Sissy Spacek in 1976. Apparently the plan is to go all True Grit like the Coen Brothers did in their remake of the John Wayne classic, in where the went back to the original novel to do a strict translation.
Still, do you want to see a new Carrie?

Again?
I thought De Palma’s film was very loyal to the source material. We don’t need a remake, I doubt that it could improve on the original.

You are absolutely right.
It seems masturbatory to do a remake to Carrie.
