Keira Knightley approached for Akira
With a development on WB’s Akira remake now moving forward (here), casting news has been flowing in. We heard earlier that Garett Hedlund in officially negotiating to lead the film (here), with Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter being considered for roles (here). The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Kiera Knightley has been approached for an unknown role in the film. The role she’s been approached for can only be that of Kei, “A young revolutionary whom Kaneda meets and becomes enamored with on his quest to find Tetsuo” (via Wikipedia).
But as it stands, Hedlund is the only actor that is currently in negotiations for a role in the film.
