Keanu Reeves in talks for Akira
Whether fans like it or not, Warner Bros. is moving forward with their live-action adaptation of Akira. The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Keanu Reeves is in talks for the role of Kaneda in Akira. Fans are already upset the studio isn’t casting Asians in the role (here), but it’s understandable why the studio would cast a known actor like Reeves. Akira has a very niche audience, and the studio has been trying to attach a big name actor to sell the film (here). However, no offer has been made to Reeves, but talks are reportedly going well.
