Jane Fonda wants Barbarella 2!
Didn’t expect to hear that today, huh? In a recent interview with Hero Complex, Jane Fonda said this about a sequel to 1968′s Barbarella. “I have a dream – to do a sequel to Barbarella,” Fonda said. “Not a remake, a sequel! Look, I get shtupped by a blind angel, OK? Let’s just take it from there.”

“I think,” she said about the idea of returning to the titular role, “it could be funny – and feminist.” All proposed remakes of the film have fell into development Hell, but could this pipe dream lead to a sequel? Dino De Laurentiis produced the film back in 1968 and was directed by her then husband, Roger Vadim. The character was based on a French comic that was quite erotic and sexually charged.
Heck, I’d settle for a special edition on Blu-ray of the original. Thoughts?

I thought she hated the role? Kind of sounds like she may be joking. She has aged gracefully, but she is still too old for a sequel, and despite the cult following, I think the first film bombed anyway. Is she getting desperate because of the way her career has gone down hill?
Now a spinoff where she’s merely a supporting character, then maybe. But tone down on her sexuality and focus on the Sci-Fi action.

That is unless she wants it to be an animated film. Jerry Lewis returned for 2008′s THE NUTTY PROFESSOR animated movie that was really a sequel to his 1963 comedy.
