James Marsters on a Dragonball Evolution sequel

We heard rumor last month that a sequel to Dragonball Evolution was still possible (here), but Actor James Marsters (Dragonball Evolution, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) now revealed at Megacon (via DB Legends) that a sequel will “probably not” happen. It’s not surprising after the first film didn’t perform well at the box-office (earning $57,497,699 total), and was widely panned by fans and critics. Although, Marsters thinks fans had to high hopes for the film. “You know what, you compare it to Dragonball, not Dragonball Z. Dragonball. You compare it, and it actually kind of kicks ass. But everybody compares it to Dragonball Z and they think it’s a light version,” he said.

If another film did ever happen, then it would most likely be a reboot of the series. Or the studio could just go into a Dragonball Z film, and ignore Dragonball Evolution. A live-action Dragonball Z project was on and off for a few years, and it seems the studio wanted to make Dragonball Evolution just so they could get Dragonball Z off the ground in the future.
