Jack Ryan reboot delayed

It was looking as though we were going to get a double-dose of Chris Pine next year with Star Trek 2 and Moscow, a reboot of the Jack Ryan series. However, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Steve Zaillian (Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games) was brought in to rework the script, but has now dropped out two weeks ago. Jack Bender is still attached to direct, but he could end up walking if a script isn’t finished soon.

In the meantime,  Paramount is now focusing on getting the script for Star Trek 2 completed for production to begin this Fall to meet its release date on June 29th, 2012. Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof were expected to have finished the script this month, but we already heard the trio are still working on it (here). Star Trek 2 is obviously a top priority for the studio after J.J. Abrams’ reboot was a big hit in 2009. Although, it’s still uncertain if Abrams will return to direct the sequel.
