Hilary Swank to lead a revolt in Shrapnel
Variety is reporting that Hilary Swank will be producing and starring in an adaptation of Shrapnel from Radical Comics. Swank has been looking for a film about a “strong female protagonist that could show off her abilities to do action films”. Toby Wagstaff has been hired to adapt the graphic novel for Radical Pictures. No word yet on who will direct the film, but Varitey mentions that several “top directors” are circling the film. Maybe we’ll learn more at Comic-con next week.
For those unfamiliar with the comics, Shrapnel is set on “Venus, 2250. After five years of war, the last free colony in the Solar System is about to fall. Unknown to the attacking Marines—or even the colonists themselves—the most infamous heroine of the war has gone into hiding in exile on their planet. Now she must organize a revolt against the very Marines she once fought alongside and lead the colonists to freedom.” The comic was turned into a trilogy, and is soon to be turned into a multiplayer game by Zombie Studios.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, somebody needs to work with Clint Eastwood again.
After Million Dollar Baby, Swank has been in several box office floos.
