Hellraiser remake in more trouble

Dimension Films has been looking to remake Clive Barker’s Hellraiser for a couple years now, and the studio had to even push out another ridiculous DTV sequel, Hellraiser: Revelations (trailer here) to keep the rights to the franchise. Things were looking up when Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry 3D) were attached to direct the film. But it seems that development on the film is once again stalled as the two may be dropping out of the film.

According to Shock Til You Drop, the two have been looking at recent drafts of the script, but haven’t been pleased with any of them on the Barker’s original film. This means the remake will once again be put on hold until the studio can make up a new take on the character that pleases them. However, the original film is already regarded as a classic horror film, and maybe this is a sign the film doesn’t need to be remade. After all, many of the recent horror remakes such as Halloween, Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street didn’t come close to the topping the original film in quality, and it maybe best to leave this one alone.

Whatever happens, it looks like Hellraiser: Revelations will have to satisfy fans until this gets worked out when it comes to DVD/Blu-ray on Ocboter 18th.
