G.I. Joe 2 is getting some Bieber Fever
With Stephen Sommers now out of the director’s chair of Paramount’s G.I. Joe 2 (here), the studio has been hard pressed to find a replacement. However, Deadline Hollywood is now hearing that Jon Chu (Step Up 3D, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) has been attached to the direct the sequel. Chu seems like an odd choice for the film considering his past films, but it was almost obvious Paramount would go with him after bringing in lots of cash with Never Say Never. With this out of the way, the studio can now begin casting the film to shoot this fall for a likely release in late-2012.
The only cast member attached so far is Lee Byung-hun, who’ll be returning as Storm Shadow (here). The studio is currently looking to get Channing Tatum to return as Duke, and we can likely expect the others to return as well. The only person that may be difficult will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cobra Commander), who’s also shooting The Dark Knight Rises this May with Christopher Nolan. Hopefully, his schedule will be worked so he can return.
