Fright Night sequel already planned

Fans have already expressed their disinterest in Craig Gillespie’s Fright Night remake for Dreamworks, but the recent trailer (here) looks as though this film could actually be one of the few decent remakes. The studio sure seems to think so as sources as telling Cinema Blend that a sequel is already been talked about. Of course, that same thing can be said for many of the upcoming films this summer, and it all depends on how the film performs at the box-office if a sequel happens.

But if a sequel did happen, what could we be expecting? Well, the sources are saying the sequel could put David Tennant (Doctor Who) in the lead role, with Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass, Role Models) as well. Tennant will be portraying Vegas Magician Peter Vincent in the upcoming remake, and the sequel could see Tennant in his first major Hollywood role where he would have to deal with Vampires, and other problems. It would certainly be nice to see Tennant get a lead role in a major Hollywood film, but it all depends whether or not fans take a liking to this remake. And given the recent track record with horror remakes, the odds don’t look good.

Fright Night opens on August 19th.
