Famke to go witch hunting (UPDATED)

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. We know that Dead Snow‘s director Tom Wirkola is directing (here) and that it stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton (here).

Now, What’s Playing is confirming Famke Janssen (Goldeneye;X2) is attached to play an undisclosed role.  More on this as it comes. The storyline for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters picks up the fairy tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch bounty hunters (via Dread Central).

UPDATE: Deadline is reporting Janssen will play the leader of the witches.
