Extended Lord of the Rings coming to Blu-ray soon?
Fans were upset when Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy came to Blu-ray in April last year, but were only the theatrical editions of the trilogy. However, Digital Bits is getting word the exteneded editions of the films will now be released “sometime this year”. With The Hobbit now finally about to go into production next month, Warner Bros. is doing this to “keep the franchise fresh in the minds of fans.” However, this won’t be the end for the trilogy as an “Ultimate” box set containg both versions of the films are expected, with 3D Blu-ray also a big possibility. But that expected to happen after 2012.
