Exclusive: The Brothers Strause talk Skyline 2
It’s been a while since we last heard anything concrete on Skyline 2. The last of which, was from writer/producer Liam O’Donnell in November (here). I recently caught up with The Brothers Strause for an upcoming interview that you’ll read very soon and I asked them about the chances that Liam was right when he said we will see a Skyline 2 and the plausibility of it.
Jon: Josh and Liam [the screenwriters] claim that no matter what, a Skyline 2 will happen. Is there any truth to this and what’s the plausibility of it?
Greg Strause: We have a 48-page treatment ready for the movie. It’s crazy and epic. Basically, that’s what those two will be getting into in a week or so, since the sequel was negotiated prior to finishing the first film. We know where we want to take the franchise, but we didn’t want to do three sci-fi movies back-to-back, you know? We wanted to do one other thing – War of Ages – first, especially since Skyline 2 will have a huge amount of pre-visual and modeling to be done. The film will be in a post-apocalyptic setting in the States, New York City and stuff, so there’s a lot of digital assets to be built, so we felt on the War of Ages, we could be prepping and setting things up.
The film The Brothers Strause will be tackling next is War of Ages, as Greg mentioned, which is a sword-and-sandals epic. Skyline is out now on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Home Entertainment.

I’m willing to give a sequel a chance, but I’m won’t be as excited about it as I was with Skyline. I’m probably one of the few that loved the ending, and I’m curious to see where it goes from there.

When I saw it in the theater I was juiced at the end in anticipation of where the movie could from there in the sequel. Now having just watched it again on DVD I ain’t feeling it as much, oh well the fx don’t translate to my shitbox tv, lol!

Go HD!
From what they told me, the sequel feels balls-out and dark.
EXCLUSIVE, baby!
Cool effects. Movie wasn’t great until ending. Ending was frickin awesome. Anticipating sequel…
This is the first Alien invasion movie that didn’t have that “feel good-Will Smith cigar smoking quips-save the day” that most of the War of The Worlds crap that came before it. It was straight out balls to the wall and for the creativity, camera angles, creature effects, this is by far the best Aliens come to earth Invasion movie I have ever seen. Independance Day, Battle LA, War of the Worlds (remake) for all its big budgets, can’t hold a candle to this and what the brothers Strause have brought to the screen. Bring the Sequel!
Thank goodness it didn’t end like cloverfield, love this movie.

Yeah, Cloverfield just ended, but this had a crazy left field ending that you either dug or not. You did and I didn’t mind it either.
