Darren Aronofsky wants to bring Noah’s Ark to the big screen

A few years back, Darren Aronofsky wrote a new take on the Biblical tale of Noah’s Ark that was recently turned into a graphic novel. Speaking with Los Angeles Times, Aronofsky revealed that he still hopes to get a big screen version of the film off the ground someday. Aronofsky’s hope is to get financing for the film, and to make the after he’s done with The Wolverine. Although, he should have little difficulty finding a studio after the success of Black Swan.

Aronofsky’s take on the classic tale is different from many remember from the Bible. His take sees Noah as the “first environmentalist”, who’s troubled after surviving the apocalypse. The graphic novel also goes into many details that weren’t taught to children in Sunday school. “I was stunned going back and realizing how dirty some of those stories are,” Aronofsky says. “They’re not PG in any way. They’re all about sleeping with your brother’s sister who gives you a child who you don’t know. That kind of stuff got censored out of our religious upbringing,” he said.
