Could True Lies 2 finally be happening?

Last year, Tom Arnold got fans excited about the possibility of a sequel to James Cameron’s True Lies, but that was quickly dismissed by Cameron himself. However, with Schwarzenegger now out of office, and looking to return to acting (here, here, and here), True Lies 2 could be possible once again. Tom Arnold spoke with Movieweb, and began talking about a sequel. “There is a script that James Cameron and a guy named Jeff Eastin, who created the TV show White Collar, wrote. It is really great. Jim can’t direct it. But he can produce it. We hope it gets done. We have a few fun things we want to do. I am supposed to remain cool about this. For me, it would be a lot of fun to work with the guys again,” he said.

That sounds great in all, but last we heard a TV show based upon the movie was in development last September (here). Has things changed since Schwarzenegger left office? Or is Tom Arnold just trying to get fans excited about the possibility of a sequel? May be both could reprise their roles in the series? Who knows right now as this is the first that’s been heard about True Lies in a few months, and history has shown that Arnold is the most reliable source of news when it comes to the idea of a sequel. Either way, Arnold is excited. “I am excited. All I can say right now is, I know that Arnold and I will work together. A lot of people are sending him scripts now. He is carefully going through them, deciding what he wants to do. He wants to have some fun. He wants to do something that is worth his time, but fun. Hopefully, we can get this thing figured out. And we can get something on track. I am just waiting. I am following his lead,” he said.
